The
term ‘Blauw Op Straat’- literally ‘Blue In the Street’-
is popularly used to describe the public presence of police officers.
(In the Netherlands, the police wear blue shirts.)
Den Haag is where the Dutch government, queen and army, as well as the
diplomatic community and organisations such as Europol and the International
Court of Justice are based.
For this installation, the project space was cut in half by a wall.
On 9 built-in screens with
(pre-recorded) video footage, the public could ‘monitor’
the street supervisors of the city. Additionally, a full inventory of
Den Haag guards, illustrated with video stills was presented.
